“The Handmade Skateboard is the definitive book on building custom skate decks of all shapes and sizes, from the high-performance street deck to the classic longboard to a vintage pinstripe cruisers that will turn heads everywhere you go. When you make your own skateboard from scratch you have the opportunity to create something that is perfectly tailored to you: a deck that matches your height, your weight, your center of balance, your skill level and your intended use. More importantly, making your own skate deck allows you to design a perfect deck to fit your personal style, making a statement about who you are.”

We worked closely with Matt for an extended period of time sharing our experiences and board building methods to help contribute to this incredible project. Not only does he extensively cover our Thin Air Press vacuum bag method of board building (Chapters 6 and 7), but the book goes over the history of skateboard making and has lots of great interviews and features of people in the industry.

This 150+ page book is available on our online store for $24.95, and can be bundled with board building tools and materials to really help get you started!

GRIP TAPE

Veneer - Check

Glue - Check

Press and Mold - Check

Grip Tape? WE DO NOW!!

It's a natural fit... If you're going to buy quality skateboard veneers and make your own custom deck, you might as well grab enough grip tape for your boards from the same place too, right?!

Roarockit now offers two different types of high quality grip tape for board builders:

9" Wide Street Deck - Offers a fine grit grip for skateboards and mild cruising. Sold in 34" lengths to match the dimensions of our Street Deck sized Maple veneers.

11" Wide Longboard Coarse - This coarse grip tape will really lock your feet in place while riding downhill and busting out slides. It comes in 48" lengths to match the dimensions of our Longboard sized Maple, Birch and Bamboo veneers.

We are currently offering the grip tape as an add-on to our veneer pack products, and also selling it in packs of 5 on its own.

If you would like to inquire about custom quantities or lengths, feel free to call or email

Go Skateboarding Day

This past weekend (June 21st, 2014 to be exact), we hosted an Open House/Community Jam at the Roarockit HQ in Toronto as part of Go Skateboarding Day.

With a lot of hardwork and volunteers, we were able to put together a pretty sweet little DIY skate park in the back lot of our unit, including a 18' x 8' mini ramp!

There was also some live graffiti art by a couple of former students of the Oasis Skateboard Factory, our good friend Mike Boz helped run the bbq, Matt from Frenique Customs and the Bombora crew helped put together some of the skate features... and of course, lots of skating!

This day could not have happened without everyone's help, so thanks again to everyone who came out to support the local community... OH! And check out the footage we were able to get with help from local videogrpaher (and rad skater) Matt Bo:

Generation Grind

The Generation Grind – Skateboard Art Show was recently on display at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto, ON. The show ran from April 14-20th, and the grand opening event (Wednesday, April 16th) attracted over 250 people from the local skateboard and art community.

Generation Grind matched up local artists with students from the Oasis Skateboard Factory (OSF) to collaborate on a series of boards based on their experiences as youth in the city.

Each board was available for auction, and the event raised over $1600 in support of the innovative OSF program. Below is a recap of the work put into creating the exhibit, and the finished boards that were on display.
